After completing her studies at Sydney Tafe Fashion Design Studio and working in design roles for prominent Australian fashion labels; Zimmermann, Shakuhachi and Lee Jeans, ambitious Merryn Kelly sought something that little bit different.
Utilising her experience and drawing on her values of living with a progressive outlook, challenging the status quo and the enjoying the thrill in a busy working life in the big city, a clothing collection was born in 2014.
Since it’s inception, THIRD FORM has been worn by IT-girls Margaret Zhang, FIGTNY, Nadia Fairfax and Vanessa Hong. Labelled ‘cult following’ by VOGUE Australia and a ‘New Face of Australian Fashion’ by Forbes.com.
Throughout this time, Merryn’s strong vision and business nous caught the eye of the top industry judging panels and achieved outstanding accolades. Becoming a finalist for the prestigious VAMFF National Designer Award, as well as entry into the 'money-cant'-buy' Project Next Gen for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
Together; Merryn's values, design signature and recognitions are today epitomised in THIRD FORM.
We take influence from our current progressive times and the rise of women’s voices. Their power, strength, creativity and individuality, we see as something to celebrate.
As well as being inspired by women at the forefront of change we also envisioned dressing them. The modern day armour for this battle of change. Strong and brave, whilst remaining sensual.
There are many facets to her personality and our collections echo this disposition with intricate detailing, elegant new silhouettes, rich volume, and exclusively designed prints.
Perfectly adapted to the now, we aim to build on the confidence of a designer wardrobe by applying a subtle gritty signature. Forging a look that is alluring, yet unmistakably cool.
An ode to living it large!
Third Form is sold in over 80 stores globally including key retailers Ounass, Moda Operandi, Luisa Via Roma, Myer and more.
At the heart of THIRD FORM is a deep consideration and respect for the craft and design process of creating each individually garment to the best of our ability.
With a design approach that sees an obsessive play between structure, shape and texture, we aim to create collections that deliver harmony between progressive garment design and the modern woman’s wardrobe, underpinned by considered premium fabrication and in-house designed artwork interpreted into prints our artisanal fabric mills.
We begin the process with detailed sketches and considered fabric selection, sketches then transform from pen to colour and the vision starts to take shape, we then work with draping and toiles before the final pieces are made with care
and attention to detail by our partners.
There’s a sophisticated sensibility to collections that extends beyond its considered palette to the more pared-down, simplified shapes that have been brought to life with texture and a play on proportions, always with the THIRD FORM edge.
